Tulips Around The World​

This project started in 2023. I had been photographing tulips in the Netherlands for over 10 years and my work was noticed by Ibo Gulsen who was running the World Tulip Society in the Netherlands. He told me: "Albert, your tulip photos of the Netherlands are spectacular, but what about photographing the tulip in other countries?". That's how this all started. I love tulips. They're a beautiful fascinating flower. And I had captured them from every angle right here at my home. From low on the ground, to drone shots, to photographing them from high up in the plane. And I was very interested to know how they look in other countries.

I started to visit parks in the US, Europe and China. And later, I started to also explore the 'wild tulip. Did you know the tulip originally grows for millions of years? Its exact origin is unknown and several countries claim it. But the fact is that it's somewhere in the Tien Shan Mountains, or in that region. East Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan are several countries where the wild tulips grow.

In this project I photograph the beauty of the tulip in lots of different places. The project aims to show its beauty, but also how it creates happiness around the world. The tulip is special. It has something other flowers do not have.
